I believe that an effective intervention plan needs to be individualized, functional, and engaging. It should involve collaboration between the client, his/her family, team, and other professionals. A client’s personal goals in therapy are central to my work as we work on developing skills to enhance an individual’s participation in society. My services are available for children of all ages and adults.
Receptive & Expressive Language
How we understand the language around us and express ourselves is the foundation of communication. I use dynamic and engaging evidence based techniques that are child-centered to improve an individual’s language comprehension and expression.
Accent Modification
My accent modification training program is appropriate for individuals who are interested in changing how they say words to improve their communicative effectiveness in a personal and professional setting. I have delivered accent modification training to employees of transnational corporations in both the United States and in China.
Social Skills & Pragmatics
We live in a social world! Communicating with others begins at a young age and carries on throughout our lives. Social skills and pragmatic intervention involves teaching children exactly how to interact with and interpret the world around them. I believe that social skills training needs to be as functional and realistic as possible.
Autism Spectrum Disorders
Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) manifest uniquely in each individual and often times, at a young age. I have worked with children age 1;6-adolescence in facilitating spontaneous and reciprocal interactions. I also support families throughout their journey from identifying early signs and throughout childhood.
Executive Functioning & Self Regulation
Executive functioning deficits can impact how an individual manages their daily life and performs at school. Intervention is designed to help students plan, organize, and execute tasks of value to their lives. Social regulation involves managing one’s thoughts and feelings to engage in goal-directed actions. I have specialized training to support in both.
Stuttering
Successful stuttering (fluency) intervention can be transformational in an individual’s life. I utilize an array of evidence based treatment techniques, including the Lidcombe Program for younger children and the Camperdown Program for adults. A central component of my therapy plan is equipping my clients with skills to manage communicative moments at school, work, or elsewhere.
